Abstract--Virtual reality (VR) is a term that applies to HYPERLINK " computer-simulated environments that can simulate physical presence in places in the real world, as well as in imaginary worlds. Most current virtual reality environments are primarily visual experiences,
Keywords-Virtual reality,Virtual based education,Virtual interact.
I-INTRODUCTION:
Virtual Reality refers to a high-end user interface that involves real-time simulation and interactions through multiple sensorial channels.
“Virtual Reality is a way for humans to visualize, manipulate and interact with computers and extremely complex data.”Virtual reality is often sometimes called as Synthetic Environment, Cyberspaces Artificial Reality, Simulators Technology, etc. VR systems that include transmission of vibrations and other sensations to the user through a HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_controller" \o "Game controller" game controller or other devices are known as HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haptic_technology" \o "Haptic technology" haptic systems. This tactile information is generally known as HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_feedback" \o "Force feedback" force feedback in medical, HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_gaming" \o "Video gaming" video gaming and military training applications. Virtual reality also refers to remote communication environments which provide a virtual presence of users with through HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telepresence" \o "Telepresence" telepresence and HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telexistence" \o "Telexistence" telexistence or the use of a HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_artifact" \o "Virtual artifact" virtual artifact (VA). The immersive environment can be similar to the real world in order to create a HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lifelike_experience" \o "Lifelike experience" lifelike experience grounded in reality or sci-fi. HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality" \o "Augmented reality" Augmented reality systems may also be considered a form of VR that layers virtual information over a live camera feed into a headset, or through a HYPERLINK "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone" \o "Smartphone" smartphone or tablet device.
II-BRIEF HISTORY:
In 1950s, flight simulators were built by US Air Force to train student pilots.
In 1965, a research program for computer graphics called “The Ultimate Display” was laid out.
In 1988, commercial development of VR began.
In 1991, first commercial entertainment VR system "Virtuality" was released.
Virtual reality may have popped into the headlines only in the past few years, but its roots reach back four decades. It was in the late 1950s, just as the nation was shaking off stale traces of McCarthyism and was shaking to the sounds of Elvis, that an idea arose that would change the way people interacted with computers and make possible VR.At the time, computers were hulking Goliaths locked in air-conditioned rooms and used only by those conversant in esoteric programming languages
. Few people considered them more than glorified adding machines.
But a young electrical engineer and former naval radar technician named Douglas Engelbart viewed them differently. He knew from his days with radar that any digital information could be viewed on a screen.Rather than limit computers to number crunching, Engelbart envisioned them as tools for digital display.
III-TYPES OF VR SYSTEM:
Windows On World(WoW)
Immersive VR
Telepresence
Mixed VR
Distributed VR
There are a number of different HMDs on the market at the moment, ranging from affordable to expensive. Also, some of these devices are more accessible than others. Google cardboard for example, is not only cheap, but due to the fact that it has been developed.
IV-APPLICATIONS OF VR:
Education & Training
Driving simulators.
Flight simulators.
Ship simulators.
Tank simulators
Some of these will be more familiar than others but visit any of these to find out more about a particular use of virtual reality.
There are many more uses of VR than first realised which range from academic research through to engineering, design, business, the arts and entertainment
V-VR TECHNOLOGY:
Head Mounted Display
Binocular Omni Orientation Monitor(BOOM)
Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE)
Data Gloves
The term " HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artificial_reality" \o "Artificial reality" artificial reality", coined by HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myron_Krueger" \o "Myron Krueger" Myron Krueger, has been in use since the 1970s; however, the origin of the term "virtual reality" can be traced back to the French playwright, poet, actor, and director Anton in. In his seminal book The Theatre and Its Double (1938),
VI-ARCHITECTURE OF VR SYSTEM:
The creation of VR systems to support virtual environments (VE) is a challenging problem requiring diverse areas of expertise, ranging from networks to psychology. Developing VEs is a very expensive task in terms of time and financial and human resources.
VII-IMPLEMENTATION:
To develop a real time virtual environment, a computer graphics library can be used as embedded resource coupled with a common HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Programming_language" \o "Programming language" programming language, such as HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%2B%2B" \o "C++" C++, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(programming_language)" \o "Java (programming language)" Java, or HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Python_(programming_language)" \o "Python (programming language)" Python. Some of the most popular computer graphic HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_(computer_science)" \o "Library (computer science)" libraries are HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL" \o "OpenGL" OpenGL, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct3D" \o "Direct3D" Direct3D, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java3D" \o "Java3D" Java3D,.
VIII-MANUFACTURING
Virtual reality can serve to new HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_design" \o "Product design" product design, helping as an ancillary tool for engineering in manufacturing processes, new product HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prototype" \o "Prototype" prototypes, and HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation" \o "Simulation" simulation. Among other examples, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Design_Automation" \o "Electronic Design Automation" Electronic Design Automation, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAD" \o "CAD" CAD, HYPERLINK "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finite_Element_Analysis" \o "Finite Element Analysis" Finite Element Analysis, and , user can see and even feel the shaped surface under his/her fingertips, Flight simulators and games,CAD/CAE , Biomedical Engineering the projects mentioned are ,use of virtual reality for viewing of X-RAY's and MRI‘s. e library
IX-VIRTUAL LIBRARY
Virtual library is the latest updated technology that used to interact with the library books or any event.Even you can access the books from the library and you can virtually experience with it.You can attend any workshops and conferences from your placperiene by the virtual reality experience.Discover user generated 3D views, public programs, events and installation experience.
X-VIRTUAL SPORTS
Virtual Sports is also the next upgraded technology which helps us to experience the real sports feeling in yourself. Some VR make the audience to walkup through the stadium and experience it.Moreover there are virtual sports games and Vitual 3D games which make audience and the players to get a new experience.
XI-VIRTUAL REALITY IN FILM
Virtual reality in film is a common theme in more films particularly in the science fiction movies.Sci-Fi Movies mostly make everyone to experience the virtual art. These type of technology will be nostaligical to many audience and they can experience a livelihood feeling among them.
